Health restrictions and allergies make finding food a big deal for some people, especially those with a sweet tooth. Because most bakeries use soy, milk, eggs, peanuts, and are not gluten-free, it can be almost impossible to satisfy that sweet craving.
Louisville Label is proud to present their latest customer spotlight: Annie May’s Sweet Cafe. It’s a local bakery that takes great care to allow people with allergies to enjoy sweet treats. We have been working with Annie May’s since June 2013, printing their oval logo label and the cute “Are You Kitten Me?” gluten free label.
How It Began
It all started in June 2011 when Annie McGill opened Annie May’s Sweet Cafe to offer treats for those with food allergies.
Having food allergies herself, Annie wanted to share her “safe” recipes. She admits that some of the items offered in her cafe are not “super healthy,” but absolutely delicious! The oatmeal cream pie is the cafe’s best seller. It’s vegan, gluten-free, and free of the top 8 food allergens (wheat, soy, milk, eggs, shellfish, peanuts, tree nuts and sesame). Another popular item? The cinnamon rolls that are available as baked or as “take and bake.” These and many more tasty treats are available in store and online.
Annie May’s is now serving breakfast and lunch. Breakfast is available on Saturdays featuring biscuits and gravy and made-to-order french toast. The lunch menu has items like pizza, sandwiches, and salads. Akin to their philosophy, these items are respectful to allergies and vegans.
